Locked up

The fine dust of the outback will clog up any locks on the rear, stopping them from closing fully and locking.

I've had to take the rear hatch latches to the locksmith twice now.

You might notice them stiffening up and apply some lube but this doesn't stop further dust ingress.

Locksmith suggestions -

Tape over the hinged covers.

If the problem is developing, invert the lock, inject Ezy-Glide past the cover while popping the key in and out. This should wash the dust out. Don't leave the job too long.

Trivial fact....  only in the NT can an ordinary citizen own a lock pick legally. With this barrel the last pin will release it from the housing for an easy clean. Don't leave that too long either or else the pick won't go in.
